Every day construction workers are injured
on the job. Many of these injuries are from unsafe working conditions
that are known, and attempts to fix the problem are either ignored
or delayed. There are more instant injuries such as falling
from scaffolds and other elevations; being hit by moving machinery;
being electrocuted; and being seriously hurt by defective or unreasonably
unsafe equipment. There are also injuries caused by long term
exposure to asbestos and chemicals; welding by-products; or
lifting and repetitive motion.
Regardless of the size of the construction
site, regulations, inspection requirements, and job safety
programs should seek to prevent construction site injuries
and promote safety. When the Branson firm takes a construction
injury case, we examine not only what went wrong and why,
but also how it could have been prevented.
Many of these injuries have lead to death
or serious injuries that require life-long treatment. We work
to make sure our clients needs will be met now and in the
future.
Workplace Cases :
ELECTROCUTION
AT APARTMENT COMPLEX
A maintenance worker was fatally burned by an exposed electrical
wire. The father and husband lived in severe pain approximately
three weeks after the explosion. The El Paso utility company and the man’s employer
settled the lawsuit brought by the Branson firm.
“This was a difficult case; Branson’s
office pursued it with enthusiasm and tenacity, and got us
where we needed to be.”—Tony Martinez, Referring
Attorney
WORK PLACE INJURY RESULTING IN REFLEX
SYMPATHETIC DYSTROPHY
Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy resulted
from a leg injury which a young man suffered while at work.
His employer, a non-subscriber, refused to modernize its plant
and equipment.
“Frank’s firm kept working
this case long after the defendants gave up. He forced them
to pay many times more than they ever imagined the case was
worth.”

POWER COMPANY NEGLIGENCE
Weatherford Democrat (7/10/98)
“Settlement reached in high-voltage accident ”
“Power lines can kill and maim. An
insurance adjuster, who spent four months in the Parkland
Burn unit, underwent 14 surgeries and needs ankle braces to
walk, is living testimony to the power of man-made electricity.”
Frank Branson, on behalf of his client regarding
the settlement, said, “There is not a person who reads
your newspaper who would trade places with him for the money.
Burn victims have it worse than any other kind of injury.
I hope this recovery will open the eyes of corporate entities
to put safety ahead of profit.”
