Atmos Energy Gas Pipeline Explosion Triggers Lawsuit

A group of Potter County residents and local businesses have filed a lawsuit in Texas state district court following the 2009 explosion near Bushland, Texas, that caused a 15-foot crater in the ground and sent a fireball more than 700 feet in the air.

The devastating explosion followed a rupture in a 24-inch gas pipeline that was operated by Atmos Energy and owned by El Paso Natural Gas Co. Federal investigators have not been able to determine the cause of the blast. The lawsuit includes injury claims filed by residents who suffered burns that required skin grafts.

This case represents an important safety reminder for families who live near volatile gas pipelines, and pipeline workers who often risk their lives in dangerous working conditions. At The Law Offices of Frank L. Branson, our attorneys provide clients with years of experience in cases involving serious gas-related injuries and deaths. The Law Offices of Frank Branson is not involved in this case.
